The United Nations Food and Agricultural Organisation's (FAO) finding that a quarter of the world's fishing resources are showing declining yields has rightly raised public awareness of the importance of sourcing seafood from fisheries known to be managed in a way which safeguards the resource and ensures that future generations will also enjoy the sea's bounty.

The Falkland Islands is one such regional fishery that has been going about the business of sustainable fishing for more than quarter of a century and has earned the internationally recognised title as one of the best-managed fisheries in the world.
