Primary processing takes place on board the vessel.  Each factory plant operates to the highest EU hygiene and quality standards. 

After each haul the catch is immediately transferred from the fishing deck to the factory pounds for processing. The fish is prepared, cleaned, sorted and packed into trays for blast freezing. Once frozen the trays are removed from the freezing tunnels, transported to the packing room to be sealed and stamped with production information before being stored in the freezer holds until the next offload.

Block frozen squid is reprocessed on land into retail and food service product forms. The retail products are consumer packaged ready for display at retail outlets.
